Job Description

The Vanderbilt University Cloud Innovation Lab, powered by Amazon Web Services, is looking for a cohort of Cloud Developers. These positions will work directly with VCIL and AWS staff to develop and build technical solutions focused on cultural heritage preservation and media analysis. Benefits include real-world technical development experience, experience working with both Vanderbilt and industry developers and solutions architects, experience engaging with product owners of uniquely challenging data problems, experience with project management and agile methodologies, and the opportunity to develop technological proofs of concept extensible across the higher education industry. This role requires a commitment of ten to fifteen hours per week including weekly check-ins and remote work.

Essential Duties

Develop and build cloud solutions
Engage with product owners to design fit-for-purpose solutions
Build user interfaces that support positive user experience
Support ongoing VCIL operations and logistics
Collaborate with the development team
Communicate and track project milestones with stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications

Independent, driven, results-orientated creative problem solver
Ability to learn new skills quickly
Strong verbal and written skills
Development experience

Desired Qualifications (must have one or more of the following)

Front-end development experience using React, Angular, PHP, or Python

Graphic design experience, including wireframing and infographics

Writing, editing, and/or publishing skills for web content, white papers, and/or social media

Knowledge of and/or experience with AWS

Interest in and practical knowledge of ML and/or generative AI

Business and systems analysis skills

Compensation

Undergraduate students: $15/hour
Graduate students: $18/hour
